We are very excited to be able to extend these effective treatments to you, yet we realize that you may have many questions in regards to the procedure. In this article we hope to answer any questions that you may have regarding the SculpSure treatments.
HOW DOES SCULPSURE WORK?
Sculpting applicators will be placed on the desired treatment area and secured in place. The SculpSure machine will omit a light-based energy in the area which injures fat cells, but with no pain to the patient. A gradual heating followed by a gentle cooling will take place throughout the treatment, and, at most, a patient will feel a slight warmth, followed by a slight cooling and a mild, but well tolerated, tingling sensation. In the weeks following the treatment, the body naturally eliminates the injured fat cells through the body’s lymphatic system, resulting in a slimmer appearance.
CAN I COME IN FOR JUST A CONSULTATION FIRST?
Yes, at Dr. K’s Med Spa all of our consultations are free. In the consultation, the technician will establish if you are a candidate for the procedure, discuss your goals with you, review any questions you may have, review pre and post treatment instructions, and give you a price point for your desired treatment area(s).
HOW LONG DOES THE TREATMENT TAKE?
The SculpSure treatment takes 25 minutes from start to finish, per area treated. At Dr. K’s Med Spa, we require that you allow yourself an hour when receiving the treatment due to required consent paperwork and a consult before the treatment. In the consultation, the technician will discuss your goals with you, review any questions you may have from the consent paperwork, review post treatment instructions, take before pictures, mark the areas to be treated, take before pictures, and establish applicator arrangement for the area to be treated.
WHAT AREAS CAN BE TREATED?
SculpSure can treat most areas with excess, pinchable fat. Listed below are the areas commonly treated for each gender.
Women: Bra fat, back fat, upper abdomen, lower abdomen, outer thighs, inner thighs, back of thighs, front of thighs, calves, hips, flanks, upper arms, backs of arms.
Men: Upper abdomen, lower abdomen, flanks, back fat, inner thighs, outer thighs, calves, upper arms, back of arms.
WHO IS AN IDEAL CANDIDATE FOR THE TREATMENT?
An ideal candidate for SculpSure is a patient who lives a healthy lifestyle, but is struggling with localized and stubborn problem areas despite their best diet and exercise efforts. For patients that are storing fat in unflattering locations, SculpSure can provide a much needed and long lasting solution. If you are unsure if you are a good candidate for SculpSure, then we recommend a free consultation so that a technician can discuss with you your area(s) of concern and establish if the treatment is right for you. We do strongly advise that SculpSure is not to take the place of a healthy diet and exercise, but is meant to compliment a healthy lifestyle.
WHAT SHOULD I DO BEFORE THE TREATMENT?
Before a SculpSure treatment, make sure to stay out of the sun for a week. The day of your appointment make sure to come in wearing no body lotions, oils, or suntan lotions. At Dr. K’s Med Spa we ask that you come in wearing black undergarments, under your clothing, to ensure proper before pictures. For each follow up appointment we ask that you wear black undergarments, under your clothing, as well to ensure proper follow up pictures.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING THE TREATMENT?
Dr. Kamajian and a SculpSure trained technician will consult with you prior to the treatment. The technician will take before pictures of the area(s) from different angles, the area(s) will be marked, applicator templates will then be placed on the area, lastly the SculpSure applicators will be attached to the templates and the procedure will begin. At the start of the treatment you will experience a cooling sensation that will then progress to a gradual heating followed by a gentle cooling and a mild, but well tolerated, tingling sensation that is easily tolerated. During the treatment the technician will ensure your comfort and the procedure can be adjusted or stopped at any time if you experience discomfort. Our treatment room is set up with your comfort in mind with an adjustable bed, pillows, blankets, cable television and free, fast Wi-Fi.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AFTER THE TREATMENT?
After the treatment you may experience mild redness in the area, slight swelling, tenderness to the touch, and possibly very mild soreness.
CAN I GO BACK TO MY REGULAR ROUTINE AFTER THE TREATMENT?
Yes, after the treatment you can resume all daily activities including your regular exercise.
IS THERE ANYTHING I NEED TO DO AFTER THE TREATMENT?
After the treatment, and the weeks following, it is important to drink plenty of water to help flush and eliminate the fat cells from the body. During the first 10 days post treatment we recommend gently massaging the treated area, twice daily, for about 5 minutes.
WILL IT HURT?
One of the major benefits of SculpSure, over the other non-invasive body contouring treatments, is that it is pain free. In fact, the ideal sensation that a patient will feel during the treatment is a mild tingling. The applicators have an integrated cooling technology to minimize heat or discomfort. During the treatment a cycle of gradual heating will be felt in the area followed by a gentle cooling. There is no anesthetic required for the treatment.
WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?
Many patients begin to start seeing results as early as 6 weeks following the treatment as the body’s lymphatic system begins to eliminate the destroyed fat cells. Optimal results are seen at 12 weeks. If desired, the area can be retreated at the 6 week mark.
HOW LONG WILL THE RESULTS LAST?
The fat cells in the area are permanently destroyed during the treatment and will not ever return. However, 25% of the fat cells in the area are eliminated with the treatment, which means that there is still a percentage of fat cells in the area remaining. Therefore, the remaining fat cells still present can increase in size without proper diet and exercise. This means that SculpSure is best paired with a healthy lifestyle and diet, and not to be used as a primary weight loss means.
CAN I TREAT AN AREA MORE THAN ONCE?
Yes, an area can be treated more than once to reach desired results. An area can be retreated 6 weeks after initial treatment.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
This will depend on the area being treated and your desired results. SculpSure will eliminate 25% of the fat cells in the area treated with just one treatment. A consultation prior to the treatment will help to establish your goals for the area. In the consultation the technician may recommend how many treatments may be needed to establish your goals. Six weeks after the initial treatment a second treatment can be performed.
WILL THIS HELP TO TIGHTEN MY SKIN?
SculpSure is designed to eliminate fat cells, and is not designed to tighten the skin. However, due to the heat that is used, that heat can cause the skin tissue to temporarily tighten. For skin tightening Pelleve treatments are recommended. SculpSure treatments can be paired with Pelleve Skin Tightening treatments to provide desired results.

HOW IS THIS BETTER THAN LIPOSUCTION?
SculpSure is non-invasive with no pain, no anesthetic, no side effects, no drainage, no rippling and no down time. In just 25 minutes 25% of the fat cells in the area are eliminated safely and you can resume your daily functions. Liposuction is an invasive procedure that can cause damage to the body, nerves and lymphatic system, requires days to weeks of down time, anesthetic, incisions, significant bruising, drainage bags, compression garments to be worn for 3 to 6 weeks, and most patients are left with a rippling appearance in the area and saggy, loose skin. SculpSure is safer, less painful, and provides more flattering results than liposuction.
WHAT IS THE COST?
Price point is dependent upon how many areas are being treated. A free consultation is recommended to establish the area(s) you desire to be treated, as well as a price point. At Dr. K’s Med Spa we offer, and accept, Care Credit for your convenience. SculpSure procedures can be financed through Care Credit with 12 months of no interest to you if you choose to finance the procedure through Care Credit.

IS THE TREATMENT SAFE AND ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?
SculpSure is FDA approved and is a safe and effective treatment for body contouring and fat elimination. Side effects are minimal, and include: mild redness in the area, slight swelling, tenderness to the touch, and possibly a very mild soreness. Overall, patients report that the procedure itself is painless and any minimal effects are tolerable in comparison to other body contouring procedures.
